Accounts Receivable Clerk (FT) | New Orleans, Louisiana

Overview: The Branch Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of accounts receivable (“A/R”) and general accounting duties in support of the Accounting department, drivers and sales teams.

Duties and Responsibilities: • Create driver collection and sales representative deposits • Process net due accounts; post payment, run statements, and determine default for accounting • Perform data entry of all payment collections and customer account maintenance • Conduct follow-up research of overpayments and short payments • Contact customers, drivers and sales staff regarding open customer A/R balances • Respond to accounts receivable requests from both internal and external customers • Create and maintain necessary reports and activity tracking • Where applicable: o verify credit memos before posting to A/R o issue money only credits upon approval from manager o review requests for credit application and verify references • Perform other job related duties as assigned Physical Demands: • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine • Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15lbs

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year experience

Preferred Qualifications: • Associates Degree with 2 year experience accounts receivable, banking, cash handling, and account reconciliation • Previous experience in customer service • Proficient working knowledge of computerized applications, for example, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, email and specialized business applications software • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other business areas • Demonstrated high level proficiency of oral and written communication skills • Planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate workload around multiple assignments
