Accounts Payable Specialist – Rocky Hill, CT

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is a first level accounting position reporting directly to the Accounts Payable Director. The position provides direct support for processing the day-to-day vendor invoice and payment obligations for Numotion.

Essential Functions:
Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.

Processes a high volume of invoices in a paperless and EDI environment.

Processes and distributes signed checks as required.

Answers all assigned vendor inquiries.

Reviews vendor statements on a monthly basis and reconciles discrepancies.

Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files.

Assists Accounts Payable Supervisor and Manager with any assigned department projects.

Assists in monthly closings.

Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.

Performs filing, copying, and scanning.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
High School diploma/GED required; Associates degree in related field preferred.

A minimum two years of accounts payable processing experience required.

Solid experience in an electronic accounts payable processing environment required.

Experience in a multi-location company preferred.

Demonstrated experience with general ledger account reconciliations including month end closing processes, and general knowledge of accounting principles required.

Solid experience with the set-up and maintenance of the vendor master file required.

Knowledge of the 3-way matching process is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel required.

Type approximately 50 keystrokes per minute required.

The ability to deal effectively with a tight month end closing process.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities.

Able to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.

Able to use technology to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills.

Listens well and retains instructions; accepts constructive feedback from supervisor.

Ability to be team oriented while focusing on the details.

A track record of being consistent with attendance and prompt arrival at work and meetings.

Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with the Numotion Mission.
