Accounts Payable Accountant

Smyth Companies, in our Minneapolis, MN location is seeking an A/P Accountant who has strong aptitude working with financial data, is a team player who is detail-oriented and good with multi-tasking. This person enjoys enhancing current business processes and workflows, has excellent interpersonal skills, works collaboratively, and builds relationships effectively in a diverse and fast-paced environment. This position requires strong communication skills in all facets. A critical element of this role is working with others, being multi-functional, while working cross-functional within the Accounting team.

Compensation based on skills and experience.

Position: Monday-Friday, 8-5

Key responsibilities for this role include:
Entry of data such as purchase orders and vouchers as well as reconciling balances and posting to the financial system as appropriate.

Matching and maintaining accounts payable paperwork.

Responding to supplier inquiries regarding purchase orders, invoices, and payments.

Cross-functional support to the invoicing and job costing function.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.

Strong aptitude to work with financial data and managing with confidentiality.

Ability to multi-task & prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.

Problem-solving skills and resolving challenging and multifaceted issues.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education, Experience, and Credentials

High School degree or equivalent.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel and Word.

Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or closely related field preferred.

Two years or more experience in a similar Accounts Payable role preferred.

Experience with other financial software preferred.
