Accounting/Fiscal Manager I – Assistant Director of Financial Operations

The Assistant Director of Financial Operations is a mid-level administrative position responsible for planning, staffing, managing, coordinating and evaluating all activities in the revenue cycle of the Business Office and Insurance Office. Major responsibilities include preparing various financial forecasts, month-end financial reporting, receivables performance, as well as, short-term and long-range strategic planning. S/he will manage the electronic health record charge-master and will propose and implement fee increases/decreases based on reliable data and analysis of year end reports. S/he will also implement third-party billing for commercial insurance carriers to include electronic filing of claims. The Assistant Director of Financial Operations reports to the Director of Financial Operations. May be considered as critical staff during departmental and campus emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or business administration and 6 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in healthcare collections and billing practices, computer systems, basic finance and statistical analysis. Work experience necessary to gain a full understanding of credit and collection functions, financial analysis and third party payer procedures in order to effectively direct the functions and activities of the department. Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Administrative experience that includes budget preparation or monitoring and data analysis. Ability to sufficiently function easily in a variety of patient accounting and billing systems (PyraMED, Medicat, Point and Click Solutions or other similar practice management system). Analytical skills necessary to examine patient accounts, detect and resolve problems relating to accounts receivable, and prepare and administer policies, procedures and budgets. Sound knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 and ICD-10-CM coding. Working knowledge of Microsoft PC applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access). Ability to lead a team in a patient-centered team environment is preferred.
