Accounting Technician II (ARDL)

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) is currently looking for an Accounting Technician II. The Accounting Technician II is a part of the Agriculture Loans section of UDAF and is involved in four agriculture and rural loan programs:

Agriculture Resource Development Loans (ARDL)

Rural Rehabilitation Loans

Petroleum Storage Tank Loans

State Revolving Fund Water Quality Loans

Duties will include:
Prepare and process a variety of accounting documents

Accounts payable, receivable, collections, revenues, taxes and audit research

Support the loan specialist

Review documents for completeness and accuracy

Perform adjustments to data and accounts

Prepare reports

Enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data.

The Ideal Candidate will possess:
Microsoft Office and Excel experience

Accounting experience

Customer service experience

Lending institution experience

Knowledge of agriculture

Example of Duties:
Prepares and processes billings, claims, warrants, disbursements and related documents; reviews invoices, warrants or other documentation; checks accuracy of figures; codes authorizations, exceptions, discounts, taxes, etc.

Prepare and/or process documents; review for accuracy and completeness; update information and/or evaluate against policy; compare elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc.

Reviews documents and reconciles discrepancies; makes needed adjustments.

Receives, researches and responds to incoming questions or complaints; provides information, explains policy and procedures, and/or facilitates a resolution.

Typical Qualifications:
establish, organize and/or maintain files

prepare financial reports and documentation

use the State’s financial computer system

make a decision or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions

use basic/business math to solve problems

principles, practices and procedures of an office environment

compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, verify, or process information or data

review and/or edit documents for accuracy and completeness

find, gather and collect information or data

communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing

use automated accounting and/or financial computer systems

use computer spreadsheet software

property valuation

deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism

Supplemental Information:
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
