Accounting Supervisor

Basic Function

This is an accounting position with supervisory responsibilities based out of the Drury Hotels Company’s Cape Girardeau Corporate office. The responsibilities and duties for this position are comprised of typical accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is someone with accounting experience who desires to learn the current procedures and processes used, who wants to grow in the position, who desires to improve processes, and who is sensitive to team members’ ideas, challenges, and skills. The position will maintain a high standard of integrity and service at all times to promote the Drury culture with team members, vendors & customers.

Job Duties

  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner and maintain discretion/confidentiality in all matters.
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop, and counsel the Accounts Payable team for the company’s supply and distribution division.
  • Maintain the accounting records for the assigned company by recording journal entries and reviewing variances from budget. Apply generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable for the company’s supply and distribution division ensuring billings are appropriately issued and collected
  • Prepare and process Sales Tax reports and prepare year-end workpapers for the assigned company.
  • Review and maintain general ledger inventory accounts and develop an understanding of the criteria, such as the general ledger account code, cost code and sales tax code, associated with the setup of new inventory items
  • Exhibit a +1 Service Attitude by providing courteous, friendly customer service. Respond promptly and efficiently to inquiries and requests.
  • Assist in the annual budget process.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules requested by the external auditors in preparation for the annual audit.
  • Other assignments and special projects as requested by company supervisors.

Must be willing to contribute to departmental goals. We are looking for a candidate with strong accounting and interpersonal skills who desires to continue their personal and professional development.

Education and/or Experience:

A college degree with a major in accounting and accounting experience is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel, and Microsoft Word software. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Keen attention to detail in composing, preparing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
