Accounting Specialist II – A/P

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining vendor accounts and processing vendor payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reconciles vendor statements and invoices. Works with internal departments to get invoices approved and processed.
  • Codes and processes vendor invoices for payment. Sets up and maintains vendor accounts. Checks accounts and data for accuracy.
  • Resolves vendor invoice inquires verbally over the phone and in writing, as needed.
  • Reconciles vendor accounts as assigned.
  • Maintains sub-ledger.
  • Performs specials projects as assigned.
  • Assists with account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Supports accounting department staff as needed.
  • Assists Senior Accountant as needed.
  • Adheres to all customer care standards.
  • Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Adhere to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States’ strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Works within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
  • Ability to learn enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Consistent attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 3 years minimum of accounting experience required in a typical accounting function such as A/P, A/R, payroll, bookkeeping, or similar.
  • Knowledge of accounting software required.
  • ERP software experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
