ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for handling cash receipts and miscellaneous accounting support functions for the agency in accordance with the organization’s Mission and Core Values, utilizing Person-Centered Practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Handle cash receipts and provide accounting support.

• Inputs cash receipts for accounts receivable to the accounting system.

• Inputs miscellaneous cash receipts.

• Processes food services’ daily cash items and posts to correct accounts.

• Processes credit card and ach payments received.

• Processes production receipts received.

• Maintains the agency’s petty cash fund and acts as the agency’s internal banker.

• Serves as main point of contact for the agency’s credit card vendor.

• Sets up accounts payable vendors in the accounting system.

• Tracks and makes sales tax payments.

• Handles Home & Community Based Services billing.

• Performs other billing functions as assigned.

• Reviews and submits updated signature forms for all bank accounts connected with the agency on an annual basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc. Extended periods of sedentary work required. Extended hours may be necessary from time to time.

Required Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma/GED required and two years of accounting experience / Associates Degree in Accounting preferred.
