Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

A leader in the greater Miami residential real estate industry is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as the Company’s Accounting Manager. The position is located at the Company’s headquarters in the Design District. Leadership and great attention to detail is required in this fast-paced environment.

Role/Purpose:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for operational accounting management over a multi-entity real estate enterprise. Chief responsibilities include daily accounting with commissions reporting, intercompany transactions, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable as well as some development project management accounting. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining and implementing appropriate accounting policies and procedures, preparing financial statements, treasury management (with weekly cash flow reporting), budgeting, monthly close, maintaining the general ledger, special projects, and more. The environment is highly entrepreneurial, fast paced and energized.

In addition to the daily duties practicing accountancy, various administrative duties will be required including banking and document management.

Qualifications of the Applicant:

  • In-depth accounting knowledge in nearly all cycles of business accounting management
  • Must be able to work efficiently and effectively both on individual and team projects – much of your time you will be working independently
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and is well organized
  • Expert in general ledger management
  • Highly self-motivated and deadline driven
  • Has a history of demonstrating initiative in meeting project demands
  • Comfortable working in a fast pace and dynamic environment
  • Ability to quickly obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the various financial reporting and general ledger structures
  • Above average professional communication skills – oral and written
  • Analytically minded and a critical thinker
  • Understands the importance of effective documentation
  • Must be computer literate in accounting systems
  • Possesses at least an intermediate knowledge in the Microsoft Office product suite – Strong Excel skills are high preferred
  • Flexible and willing to grow including overseeing staff accountants

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the real estate industry (brokerage, property management, development/construction)
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting (strongly preferred)
  • Extensive financial reporting and accounting experience – senior accountant level at a minimum
  • Familiar with the dynamics of working with a closely held company
  • LoneWolf/BrokerWolf software experience
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate
  • Annual 1099 compliance expertise

You will work closely with and report directly to the CFO while working with the ownership group and directors of the Company as well.

Pay will be commensurate with the qualified candidate’s experience at market rates – which is estimated at $70,000 – $80,000 annually plus bonus. 100% company paid health insurance is included as an employee benefit.
