Accounting Associate/Bookkeeper

JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant position performs specific areas of accounting as well as other related duties as directed by the Controller.

JOB DUTIES :

• Performs daily deposit reconciliation with Retail Pro
• Reconciles all bank accounts (monthly)
• Runs and manages the “Frequent Feeder Program”
• Submits sales tax reports to the appropriate state agency in a timely manner
• Manages reimbursement for vendor funded programs outside of “frequent feeder”
• Assists Controller with other areas of Accounting as needed
• Submits yearly 1099 reporting and property tax renditions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to commit to working 40 hours with occasional excess as necessary
• Must be comfortable with a pet-friendly environment

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance and a minimum of 2+ years accounting and experience
• Sage and Retail Pro (POS) experience preferred
• Prior retail experience preferred
• Maintains a high level of integrity and confidentiality
• Positive vendor relations and customer service experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload while meeting deadlines and increasing efficiency
• Continual attention to detail

• Frequent contact with vendors and staff

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Ability to move freely upstairs, bend and stoop throughout the Natural Pawz locations. Exposure to a non-climate controlled warehouse environment. Some carrying and lifting are required (up to 30 pounds).

Salary: $40,000.00 to $50,000.00 /year
