Accounting Assistant (Part-Time)

What we’re looking for…

  • OEC Group is currently looking for a part-time Accounting Assistant who will assist the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Freight Release team in the Accounting department with their daily duties.
  • We are hiring two individuals for this position. Both will be employed on a part time position. The scheduled work shift will be 20 hours per week.

About the Position

Duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
  • Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
  • Reconcile invoices and identify discrepancies
  • Create and update expense reports
  • Process reimbursement forms
  • Check spreadsheets for accuracy
  • Maintain digital and physical financial records
  • Issue invoices to customers and external partners, as needed

Work Schedule

There will be two separate shifts, one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Each of the accounting assistants will work one of the shifts indicated below.

Morning: 9:00AM – 1:00PM, Monday-Friday

Afternoon: 2:00PM – 6:00PM, Monday-Friday

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred and six months to one year of related experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
