Primary Purpose

Serve as an accountant/analyst in Student Financial Services with the primary responsibility for processing student and vendor refunds.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service: Interacts in a courteous and professional manner with students, faculty, and staff. This includes providing accurate information to students about tuition, fees, and important deadlines.

Student Refunds: Process student and vendor refunds within the Banner and TouchNet systems. Ensure that eRefunds are received by TouchNet. Resolve problems with returned eRefunds. Review all accounts with credit balances to ensure that refunds are appropriate and timely.

TouchNet Payment System: Assists with installation of business office cashiering stations and campus merchant stations. Provides technical support and troubleshooting to departments that are using TouchNet modules.

TouchNet Marketplace: Build and maintain uStore and uPay sites for departments. This includes verifying that general ledger information is correct, training departmental users, building reports, and testing sites to ensure they meet the needs of departments.

NRA Tax Withholding: Withhold federal tax on non-qualified scholarships received by non-resident alien individuals. Determines applicable withholding rates to scholarships and acquires required tax forms if a tax treaty is applicable. Interacts with students to explain applicable tax laws and regulations. Compiles tax data for preparation of 1042-S forms. Monitors tax status changes for students in the Glacier tax system.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, Informatics, or Computer Information Systems by time of appointment.

Ability to understand and analyze numerical information and make correct decisions based on the analysis.

Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively.

Ability to independently research problems or issues and provide viable solutions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to articulate thoughts clearly.

Skilled with word processing and spreadsheets.

Ability to be organized, prioritize, and multi-task.

Ability to lift 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must be detailed oriented and able to quickly learn and understand processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in a college or university setting.

Work experience with Ellucian Banner or similar enterprise system.

Work experience providing technical support and monitoring interfaces between computer systems.

Position will remain open until filled. The approved salary range is $38,000 – $45,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Includes a competitive benefits package. Offers of employment may be conditional pending successful completion of a background investigation.
