Job Description:Job Summary:
The Accountant I position is responsible for providing

financial information by researching and analyzing

accounting data and preparing reports. Performs job

duties consistent within safety, legal and regulatory

requirements; company standards, culture and business

practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and process GL reports.
  • Analyze financial performance by reviewing data at

source account level.

  • Review and distribute GL entries.
  • Assist with budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare balance sheet/profit and loss statement.
  • Documents financial transactions by compiling and

analyzing financial information, preparing entries to

accounts, and documenting business transactions.

  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting

information and preparing monthly financial statements

in accordance with FCC and MPUC guidelines.

  • Recommends financial, policy and procedure changes and

the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures by

reviewing and analyzing accounting options.

  • Satisfies external auditor requirements by preparing

year-end work papers and revenue/expense analyses.

Additional Duties:
Contributes to departmental activities and programs by

accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Job Requirements:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Personal computer skills including spreadsheet, word

processing, excel and database management.

  • Knowledge of mainframe based general ledger systems.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting systems and generally

accepted accounting principles.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax laws and

regulatory requirements.

  • Good analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Education/Experience

In order to accomplish the essential duties of this

position, the incumbent must have an Associates degree

with one to three years of experience.
