Temporary Exempt Full Time- This position is exempt from Civil Service rules pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section 10.104 and serves at the discretion of Appointing Officer. Maximum duration is 36 months.

POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Under general supervision, this class performs moderately complex, accounting duties including but not limited to: review of source documents; maintenance of ledgers, registers or other records of initial entry; maintenance of control accounts; preparation of periodic reports; pre-audit and audit functions; budget preparation; and interaction with vendors on claims for goods and services. The 1650 Accountant I will be supporting the Fiscal Operations Section in the Airport’s Business and Finance Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

The major functions of this position are:

  • Assists in the clean-up and reconciliation of converted data for the City’s new financial and supply chain management system, which would be replacing the City’s current central system, Financial Accounting Management Information System (FAMIS).
  • Assists with reviewing and processing of financial documents into the City’s financial system accurately and timely to ensure compliance with Controller’s and funding agencies’ policies and procedures
  • Assist with the completion and review of all required schedules, reports and other information for submission to external auditors, outside agencies and management.
  • Interprets and explains existing City and department accounting and fiscal policies and procedures to various divisions/units within the organization.
  • Assists with periodic review and evaluations of existing internal controls related to accounting processes and makes necessary recommendations to make them more efficient and effective
  • Maintains contact and acts as liaison to other department staff, managers, auditors, funding agencies and general public on fiscal and accounting matters or release of information on department’s fiscal operations.
  • Performs and assists in the completion of special reviews, financial analysis, reconciliation and other projects requested by management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with twelve (12) semester units or eighteen (18) quarter units of coursework in accounting.
