Accountant and Auditor-Advanced

The New Mexico State Land Office is distinct from most other agencies in that it generates revenues and these revenues must be sufficient to distribute to state trust beneficiaries and to meet the budgetary needs of the agency. This position provides financial controls related to accounts receivable to ensure proper receipt, allocation and distribution of over $400 million in revenues. This position is responsible for the entry and application of all revenue on ONGARD (Oil and Natural Gas Administration and Revenue Database) system and LIMS (Land Information Management System). This position will ensure accuracy and completion of month end revenue distribution and operating transfers to approximately 22 beneficiaries of the trust to provide funding that they heavily rely on for their operations. This position will meet its monthly distribution to prevent negative cash balances affecting the many diverse accounts and ensures allocation of revenues to proper funds and distributes to the correct beneficiary.

This position is a Pay Band 65.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
