Accountant

The College of Medicine ( COM ) Administration is seeking candidates for the position of Accountant. The position will perform the day-to-day accounting functions within the COM Administration unit which include, but not limited to, preparation of journal entries, reconciliation and maintenance of accounts and generation of financial reports.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process journal entries related to Banner payroll and operation activities.
  • Work closely with department administrators and business managers to ensure proper invoice and payment transactions between UA and Banner.
  • Maintain accurate records and reconciliation of Banner personnel expenditures including payroll, ERE , and vacation transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile selected accounts within Medicine Administration.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Skills in maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records.
  • Skills in preparing detailed and accurate reports on a timely basis.
  • Effective communication skills.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting course work AND one year of professional accounting experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and course work, which includes at least one year of professional accounting, in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or 2 years of equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of University of Arizona systems, policy and procedures.
  • Experience in healthcare industry and/or academic medicine.
