Accountant

Responsibilities:
Key job components will include: 1) Payroll, 2) Invoicing, 3) Pricing support for proposal development, and 4) Financial analysis at the operations level. This position will be audited by a 3rd party accountant.

Individual will obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting, general ledger structure, FAR, and GAAP.

Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close and accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.

Ensure monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed and that daily banking requirements are met.

Oversee the general ledger to ensure that all financial reporting deadlines are met.

Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures to enhance workflow.

Ensure a timely year-end audit.

Complete budget and forecasting activities.

Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

Respond to inquiries from the management team.

Qualifications:
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business or a related field

5+ years experience in the accounting department of a government contractor with exposure to multiple contract types

5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience to include A/P, A/R, and payroll

3+ years of experience in financial reporting related to DoD contracts

Working Knowledge of the FAR, DFAR, and other supplemental regulations

Experience using Deltek, GCS Premier, and/or CostPoint

Experience working closely with ADP

Strong Excel and Word skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly

Process payroll in a timely manner

Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed

Maintain chart of accounts

Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

Issue timely and complete financial statements

Issue timely and accurate invoices to government customers

Coordinate the preparation of corporate annual reports

Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts

Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

Provide for a system of management cost reports

Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines

Desired Skills:
Experience using Impromptu

Experience in process and procedure improvement

Experience in business development with cost analysis, cost volume preparation, or pricing support

Special Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
