As a Health Plan Accountant within our Accounting and Reporting area, you will be responsible for the accounting function of one or more of our health plans at Community & State (C&S). Responsibilities include maintaining general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports. You will prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, account classifications, and various financial analyses in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with C&S Finance and health plan executive management, as needed
  • Collaborate with other functional areas within C&S Finance / C&S Controllership (e.g. FP&A, Revenue Team, Reserving, Financial Data Management, State Medicaid Reporting, CFOs)
  • Collaborate between functional areas within the broader UHG organization (e.g. Legal, Corporate Accounting, Capital Planning, Regulatory Reporting, Regulatory FP&A), as necessary
  • Collaborate with external audit teams
  • Monitor balance sheet
  • Monitor and proactively track risks and opportunities
  • Provide appropriate financial statement and / or audit support for assigned health plans
  • Support the statutory reporting process

Required Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to effectively summarize and articulate financial results

Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting

1+ years experience

Intermediate Excel
