Academic Dual Career Coordinator

Job Summary
The Academic Dual Career Coordinator is responsible for the continued development and ongoing management of the Dual Career Program in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA). The position provides leadership for the LSA Dual Career Program while working collaboratively with other University units, academic departments, campus and community contacts, to identify career opportunities for talented partners of faculty and faculty job candidates within the College of LSA at the University.

This is a full-time position during the academic year with the potential flexibility for a part-time appointment during June-August.

Responsibilities*
Serve as the key resource to LSA associate deans and senior administration regarding dual career issues. Establish and maintain excellent communication between the dual career program and the associate deans, LSA departmental leadership, and units across campus.

Serve as the LSA administrative liaison with the Provost’s Office regarding dual career issues. Prepare written requests and advocate for dual career funding from the Provost’s Office for LSA partners.

Work with the partners of LSA faculty and faculty job candidates to help them reach their personal and professional goals. Aid in the establishment of career goals and objectives. Provide guidance and assistance with job preparation including professional development recommendations, job application material preparation, and interview skill training. Able to coach, mentor, and support dual career partners throughout the duration of the search process.

Develop arrangements and facilitate hiring packages for partners among campus units. Track dual career funding arrangements, develop reports, and work in collaboration with LSA Budget and Finance to monitor dual career funding. Develop, maintain and analyze activity data for the dual career program. Work with LSA Human Resources to develop and track partner career opportunities.

Participate in other LSA Divisional Academic Affairs’ projects as appropriate including presentations to chairs/director, chief administrators and new faculty orientation regarding the LSA Dual Career Program.

Serve in a lead role overseeing recruitment, management, and evaluation of executive coaches within the college; match coaches to faculty members.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience; outstanding communication skills across multiple levels of employees and professions; experience with adult learning models and lifelong learning; ability to communicate both one-on-one and in a group setting; clear communicator of complex ideas; and, able to adapt and respond quickly to critical situations. Must have strong negotiation skills and have previous experience with employee contract development, management, and termination. Conflict management skills and professional diplomacy required. Must have a problem solving mind set and experience at strategic partnership development. Able to forge strong working relationships with the diverse population of a research institution. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to develop, maintain and generate reports, spreadsheets, and graphic files as needed.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently. Previous experience working with limited direct supervision. Able to multi-task and set priorities. Multicultural experience. Strong work ethic and possession of a highly professional demeanor. Extensive knowledge of the Ann Arbor community and its professional and life-style enrichment resources. Able to develop and maintain a career building network outside of the university to support on-campus programs. Desire to create a sense of welcome and inclusion for all partners and their families.

Additional Information
