2017 Research Summer Intern – Data Centric Systems

IBM Research is desiging DC-DC power converters with industry leading power density and efficiency. We seek a highly qualified summer intern to work with our power design engineers, in order to design an analog integrated circuit chip that will serve as a gate driver in a new type of DC-DC power converter. The successful candidate will have experience in analog integrated circuit design and power management circuit design and will be familiar with analog IC design tools. Successful tape out experience with CMOS/BCD process is a plus. Candidates currently enrolled in graduate programs are encouraged to apply.

Advanced experience in analog integrated circuits, especially switch-mode power management circuits: buck converter, boost converter, forward converter, etc.

Advanced knowledge of power efficiency of switch-mode power management circuits.

Advanced usage in Cadence analog IC design, layout design tools.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related area

Experience/Knowledge in one or more of these areas:
Advanced experience in power device layout and understanding of power device characteristics including CMOS and GaN FET.

Advanced experience in design, system/block definition, design verification.

Basic knowledge of automated testing programs: LabVIEW, etc.

Basic knowledge of lab equipment: function generator, oscilloscope, multi-meters, etc.

Experience in design of GaN driver IC is a plus.

Experience in BCD process is a plus.
