White Plains Hospital Job Description Title: Payroll and Posting Associate Job Code: 800549 Department/Location: Patient Accounts/Payroll Offsite Location FLSA Status: Non Exempt Reports to: Manager of Patient Accounts Position Summary The Payroll and Posting Associate has the responsibility for posting payments and adjustments to Accounts Receivable and maintenance of in-house receivable accounts. They also support the production of accurate financial reports by performing timely posting of cash and related adjustments to the general ledger. This role is also responsible to assist of posting payroll and help to support payroll functions. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. 2. Responsible for posting all forms of money transactions: electronic funds, manual posting, daily lockbox payments, credit cards, including reconciled bank deposits. 3. Processes zero balances, recoupment/take-banks, collections and rejections on accounts denied by insurance carriers. 4. Prepare daily deposit for facility as assigned, copy all supporting documentation for deposit and email to supervisor, accounting department and scan into designated folder on shared drive and put back up on daily deposit file. 5. Resolves issues associated with cash posting by working in a customer-services, team-oriented manner with both external and internal parties (facilities, insurance companies and other internal departments) 6. Maintain control log of remittance advice, cash account and/or charge tickets. 7. Distributes explanation of benefits/remittances to Payment Review Unit for review to ensure proper payment was received form insurance carrier based on contract arrangement. 8. Forward any reimbursement discrepancies to insurance representatives for follow-up with appropriate insurance carrier. 9. Ability to type and key accurately, written and oral communication skills, knowledge of Patient accounts billing and follow up processes. 10. Review unapplied cash and credit memos daily to determine which invoices they should be applied to 11. Complete special projects and monthly reports as assigned. 12. Assists in posting of payroll with payroll department. 13. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education & Experience Requirements ? High School Diploma required. ? Clerical Experience required. ? ? previous hospital experience preferred. ? ? Working knowledge of computers and demonstrated proficiency in using email systems, internet and MS Office ? software applications with emphasis in Excel Core Competencies ? Ability to cooperate with others. ? Must be able to speak, write understand and communicate the English language. ? Effectively communicate with internal and external customers. ? Integrity to handle the confidential aspects of work. ? Retains composure under stress Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment ? May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. ?
