Part-Time Web Developer (MEAN Stack)

Our Projects:
We have several commercial projects that are focused on deploying web applications that scale anywhere from hundreds of thousands of users to millions. Therefore, the apps that we write need to be fast even when a high volume of those users are interacting with them at the same time. A bulk of our time is spent separating large apps into distinct components that function together to expose APIs to iOS and Android apps. They are also able to handle complex business rules and provide important information our clients need to run their businesses. Our approach is simple: Look at the problems that are in front of you and pick the simplest architecture and implementation to solve them. It might take take a little extra time to do things right, but it’s worth it.

Why We Need You:
Our commercial projects are taking off and we need an “all-rounder” who can take on both front-end and back-end tasks. This is where you come in. We need a talented MEAN stack developer to deliver client-facing features. These web apps are the foundation of their business, so it’s critical that we deliver on-time and with-out creating operational problems later. The development team is small, so the work you do will play a major role in making new clients happy and existing clients love us more.

We’d love to have someone local to Charleston to come help us out, but understand that talent has no borders, so we’re open to remote workers that can teleconference as though they were in the next room. So what’s the best part? Aside from a 15 -20 minute daily standup, you get to set your own development work schedule. We just need to be able to see steady progress each day.

What You Will Do:
Support the development effort and existing teams on 2 – 3 commercial projects

Develop and deliver high quality web applications that will be accessed on desktop browsers and through mobile environments

Deploy solutions to one of two cloud environments: Amazon Web Services or IBM BlueMix

Constantly work to prevent and reduce tech debt

Continuously work to understand our client’s business needs and successfully deliver necessary features

Work with the team to ensure quality code ready to deploy on delivery day

You’re The Type of Engineer That:
Has solid understanding of full stack development and the tools we need

Isn’t afraid of trying out and learning new tools

Is able to work under general direction on complex projects, issues, and problems

Can work in a fully-remote environment and is a pro at planning out your time

Welcomes innovation and has experience implementing advance code

Know when to power through a problem, or stop and ask for guidance

Can support team members when it get’s down to the wire

Tools You Should Know:
NodeJS and Express

Asynchronous NodeJS programming – promises and/or libraries like Node Async

AngularJS 1.x & 2.x

HTML / Bootstrap / CSS

MongoDB /Mongoose

IoS and Android development are a definite plus

Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or a related field

3+ years of Java Development experience

Experience in implementing code
