Onboarding Associate

Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, in the role of Human Resources, Onboarding Associate.

In this role, you will serve as the initial point of contact for employees and leaders with routine HR new hire onboarding related inquiries and concerns in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will provide information on HR/employment, compensation/benefits, and related policies and practices. Following established practices, procedures and systems, you will resolve employee inquiries while providing superior customer service through promptly responding to and escalating non-routine matters to appropriate individuals. You will achieve performance measures and adhere to established customer service standards. In addition, you will support the HR team by providing a variety of clerical and administrative support activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • New Employee Onboarding: Managing end-to-end onboarding process for new employees; scheduling pre-employment Occupational Health screening and paperwork appointments to ensure all regulatory and compliance processes are met, initiating and reviewing background checks, collecting and maintaining documentation for employee files to certify credentialing requirements are met, and serving as fingerprinting technician in accordance with the State of Illinois Department of Public Health background check for Health Care Workers.
  • Providing a wide variety of HR functional activities requiring routine problem solving and a fundamental knowledge of various internal department practices. Decisions will be clear and routine requiring minimal interpretation of standard practice. The focus will be in the following areas: staffing support, benefits and compensation administration, employee data maintenance, and billing and payment processing with associated record keeping and filing.
  • Frequently responding to numerous employee inquiries concerning staffing, benefits, compensation, and labor/employee relations processes. Demonstrating the UCM “PRIDE” values in all phases of your work.

You ensure proper resolution is achieved and an explanation is received; escalates appropriately if needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Requires BS degree (or equivalent) with 3 or more years of varied background performing administrative job duties
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and understand the basic business issues relevant to the business functions being supported
  • Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office, internet navigation, email, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Strong teamwork with results orientation focus
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and meet tight deadlines
