At Lazard, Associates work as part of client teams which provide a wide range of services, including: general financial advice, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, special committee assignments, takeover defenses, corporate restructurings, strategic partnerships/joint ventures, advice on capital structure, and underwritings.

Day-to-day activities of an Associate include: financial analysis and modeling, creating and preparing client presentations, interacting with clients, managing deal processes and providing guidance to Analysts, among other activities.

Associates will be placed into one of our M&A industry groups ‐ Consumer/Retail, Financial Institutions, Industrials, Financial Sponsors, Healthcare, Power/Energy/Infrastructure, Real Estate, Telecommunications & Media – or Restructuring. Placement is based on students’ individual backgrounds and preferences as well as Lazard’s business needs.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of prior work experience, preferably in financial services
  • Currently matriculated at a MBA or other graduate program and within one year of graduation
  • Top academic performer who is comfortable in an unstructured environment which values initiative, creativity, maturity, and poise
  • Strong quantitative background
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated
