Key Description:

Join MITRE as a summer intern supporting Health and Human Services (HHS) and other federal agency clients across a broad array of initiatives; the requirement is for junior analytic and deliverable support for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Working with MITRE team members and project leaders to support the delivery of strategic advice and counsel to HHS, VA and other healthcare entities for the advancement of economic and health outcomes via improving data-driven analyses health information technology systems and business process improvements. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Participating in highly functional and creative teams while building knowledge and working relationships across the Corporation.

  • Providing document analysis, information preparation, project management support (status reports, staffing, spreadsheets, etc.); deliverable preparation (document and presentation), deliverable editing, healthcare, or health IT research.

  • Required Qualifications:

    Ideal candidates are either: For Undergrad Intern : Currently pursuing their BA/BS or for Graduate Intern: Have already completed BA/BS (graduate intern) and currently pursuing a graduate degree in program related to healthcare (in public policy or health sciences field) and should have the following experience:

  • Work in the healthcare sector, administrative, clinical or information systems.

  • Subject matter expertise in health economics, health or public policy, epidemiology, outcomes research, health analytics, public health, health information technology and other health-related government initiatives.

  • Ability to work with data and / or data science experience in an open source programming and statistical analysis language (e.g. Python or R).

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Excellent data science and interpersonal skills.

  • Additional Information:

  • Students need to be currently enrolled and will continue to be enrolled the following semester in a full-time degree-seeking accredited university program.
  • *70% of MITRE’s full-time jobs require US government security clearances, therefore many internships require that the candidates be clearable***
