HBO Sr. Accountant

Senior Accountant, Financial Operations & Reporting to perform the financial and operational reporting and forecasting of HBO’s spending on company-wide Staff areas. Senior Accountant will also support the budget and long range planning processes for the business areas.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform the monthly forecasting and close processes for the company-wide Staff area, including detailed analytical comparisons of current quarter and current year to prior forecast, budget and prior year.
• Prepare quarterly external reporting, including commitments and contingencies and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support the development of budgets and long range plans for the business areas.
• Identify trends in the industry and proactively assess the financial implications of changing circumstances and assumptions.
• Collaborate extensively with finance and operating areas.
• Proactively identify and implement internal process improvements in order to optimize efficiencies, improve the quality of analysis, and deliver effective forecasts.
• Prepare high level schedules for senior management and other ad hoc reports as requested.
• Perform comprehensive reviews and analyses of general ledger activity.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum of 3+ years combined public and / or private experience.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and apply financial accounting standards required.
• Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under strenuous situations while achieving successful results.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to adapt to various financial reporting systems required.
• Self-starter, proactive, and takes initiative.
