Hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in Dallas

Our client is a leading, award winning Texas general contractor, that differentiates itself by being a technology innovator within their industry. They have a great culture and are an established company that has been in business for more than 50 years with revenues exceeding 500 million. Seek CIO has been engaged to conduct a confidential search for a hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead their internal Information Technology Department. This position, based out of the Dallas office, will be responsible for a staff of 8 with responsibilities for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all internal IT functions at the Dallas headquarters as well as satellite offices and project sites supporting an employee base of 300.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with experience managing Infrastructure and capacity planning in a highly virtualized environment with hands-on skills in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and at least 4 of the 7 following areas: Data Warehousing and BI, Cloud Computing, Single Sign On (SSO) implementation and configuration, Viewpoint Construction Management or other ERP software, Microsoft SQL Server, Autodesk 3D design applications, Infrastructure Security and Performance monitoring

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As the CTO, you will:

  • Direct strategic technical vision for the company’s infrastructure and internal systems and anticipate, plan and act on shifts in technology
  • Manage day-to-day activity for individual contributor direct reports, while at the same time leading firm-wide internal systems technology strategy and interacting regularly with business leadership
  • Analyze technical needs of each department and make clear recommendations to management team
  • Budget, prioritize and plan for regular hardware and software improvements
  • Ensure high availability of critical business applications
  • Ensure consistency by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for technical solutions
  • Participate on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts
  • Direct education and certification programs for her/his staff
  • Conduct research and feasibility studies to identify leading edge technologies and provide cost/benefit and ROI analysis for their implementation
  • Propose hardware and software solutions to accomplish the company’s business objectives

  • Prior experience in Architectural, Engineering or construction Industry a plus
  • Graduate Degree in Information Management, Business Administration, or related field is a plus

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College/University in Computer Science or related field 10 years+ related experience in Information Technology or related services Experience with the following systems or software:

  • VMware Horizon or other Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (required)
  • Data warehousing technology evaluation and implementation
  • Cloud computing evaluation and implementation
  • Single Sign On (SSO) implementation and configuration
  • Viewpoint Construction Management or other ERP software
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Autodesk 3D design applications
  • Infrastructure Security and Performance monitoring

Compensation

This position offers a base salary within the $150,000 – $180,000 range with a 10-20% bonus and a generous benefits package that includes 401k, medical, dental and life insurance.
