Summary

Monitors the quality and efficiency performance for assigned manufacturing line(s). Drives continuous improvement through process development, root cause analysis and systematic problem solving; utilize data from CIQ, TARS and other sources as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Strives to balance and optimize line throughput, including efforts to minimize changeover downtime (i.e. common setups).

Monitors machine management data in order to maximize utilization and minimize machinegenerated scrap.

Provides input on creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems.

Creates and maintains wave and reflow soldering profiles.

Ensures that process parameters are within acceptable tolerances for products and components, and result in solder quality that meets IPC610B requirements (or other applicable standard).

Designs and or procures production tooling, including stencils, vacuum plates, wave solder pallets and productspecific fixtures and jigs.

Coordinates line reconfigurations and machine move activities, including equipment arrival, positioning and installation, and scheduling of support groups (Machine Support, Facilities, MIS, etc.) using the approved communication process.

Verifies that machine maintenance is performed as scheduled on assigned line(s).

Encourages open communication and exchange of information within the M.E. department and between the various support groups.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1 2 years of experience in similar role. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s Degree, First Degree, Trade/Vocational School certificate or Equivalent required. Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Technology, Industrial Engineering or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual will be required to stand and walk or otherwise traverse in order to be accessible to the production floor for extended periods of time. The person in this position will be required to regularly exert at least 10 lbs. of force to push, pull or otherwise move objects and may be required to carry or lift objects up to 50 lbs. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and/or documents; viewing a computer terminal; and/or visual inspection of products or machinery. The person in this position may need to occasionally sit, type, climb stairs, bend, reach, kneel, or twist for minimal periods of time. Employees should not attempt to lift, pull or push a load in excess of 50 lbs. without assistance. Care should always be taken when lifting, pushing or pulling in an awkward position.
