Eligibility Specialist I

Are you a compassionate person who enjoys helping others? The Department of Workforce Services is looking for skilled and motivated individuals to fill Eligibility Specialist positions and join our team.

Job Duties

Employees in this position work within a team structure in a call center environment to interview and determine eligibility of customers applying for, or participating in, public assistance programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, General Assistance, Food Stamps, Medicaid or Child Care. Duties may include:

accurately applying complex policies and procedures in determining initial and/or continuing eligibility

assisting customers seeking financial and other supportive services primarily by identifying and assessing service needs through daily processing of an individual and team caseload.

monitoring benefit levels

ensuring timely delivery of services in compliance with federal regulations

exercising judgment in working with clients who need assistance in utilizing community, department or government resources

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has:
superb communication skills – ability to communicate with customers and co-workers from all backgrounds

experience working in a call center environment

Preference

Preference may be given to individuals who:
have a 4 year college degree

have 4 years of work experience related to finance, call center, banking, insurance or health care that relates to working with medical data entry or determining eligibility

speak Spanish fluently
