We are seeking a Student Intern – Cyber Security and Privacy to define and conduct innovative research on the security and privacy of computer and embedded systems, including computers, operating systems, software applications, computer networks, communications devices, control systems, and communications networks, with an emphasis on the security and privacy of control systems. Systems of particular interest include secure operating systems, secure microkernels, and implementation of secure hypervisor-style partitions using such systems. Security and privacy of industrial controls, building management systems, Aerospace systems, embedded controllers, etc. that are in Honeywell’s product portfolio is an emphasis and any prior experience would be considered particularly attractive.

The internship will likely focus on one of the following topics: new hardware and software architectures for next generation cloud-based IOT systems, technological solutions to new privacy requirements such as GDPR, use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to enable new capabilities in IOT systems, and Data Science techniques for predictive analytics in IOT systems. Other areas of research that are allied to these topics will also be considered.

YOU WILL:
Identify and propose solutions to research challenges in the security and privacy of electronic systems.
Conduct research of hardware, firmware, operating systems and applications.
Create designs of architectures for security and privacy that are state of the art.
Implement the designs in prototypes deliverable to Honeywell business teams.
Write technical reports and research conference publications

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with an emphasis on electronic system security/cyber security and/or privacy
  • Enrolled in a master’s and/or doctoral program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineer or similar discipline in an accredited university
  • Minimum 1 research publication in a conference or workshop in a research area of interest



WE VALUE:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with an emphasis on electronic system security and privacy
  • Proven knowledge of system internals especially Linux-based systems with past experience of delivering product-ready prototypes
  • Hands-on experience in projects that explore the topics of interest above
  • Proven ability to be motivated and self-driven in research exploration.
