Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC)

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.

Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a 900 bed male facility located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula. It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. This facility houses medium and close custody offenders. CBCC also operates an Intensive Management Unit.

DUTIES:

  • Direct and supervise journey-level workers and a crew of offender workers engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical equipment, machinery, facility systems and specific apparatus, to include the maintenance of all existing water, fire, and sewage systems at the facility.
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates and projections for assigned task.
  • Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority.
  • Use current CBCC procedures to hire and train offender workers as needed.
  • Design, make sketches and shop drawings, order supplies and materials for major and minor projects.
  • Work with Facility Manager on daily work orders, Capital Projects and assist in the overseeing of projects.
  • Evaluate existing piping, mixing valves, fixtures, and equipment for repair/replacement.
  • Inspect facility grounds and buildings to determine the need for repair, maintenance, or replacement.
  • Instruct staff and offenders in the safe use of power and manual tools, movement in and around construction projects at work sites, maintain tool and material inventories.
  • Oversee and give instruction to staff and offenders during work projects to ensure that work is being completed according to specifications and in a safe manner according to DOC policies and procedures.
  • Document work performed.
  • Provides first level supervision to staff in various classifications and trades.
  • Establish and prioritize performance expectations for staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND

Three years Journeymen Plumber experience; AND

Three years of experience in construction or building maintenance work or journey-level in one of the building trades.

Note: The three years of experience in construction or building maintenance work or journey-level in one of the building trades can be gained concurrently with the plumber experience.
