Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Optomi, in partnership with a rapidly growing Healthcare, SaaS, Business Intelligence provider is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer for their Charlotte, NC location. The Senior BI Developer will be responsible for the design, development and customization of SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) multidimensional solutions using cube structures to deliver business data across multiple business units and KPI’s.

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer will need to have expert level knowledge of the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (i.e. SQL Server 2012/2014, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS etc.) Additionally, he/she will be an expert with data architecture (logical and physical database/table designs, dimensional modeling, ETL architecture) to design, develop, test, and deploy BI Solutions which perform optimally and produce high data quality and timely results for our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, development, testing, and implementation of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes or other OLAP/multi-dimensional solutions with the ability to create calculated members and KPIs
  • Design, development, testing and deployment of data integration packages using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS), including the ability to develop ETL processes to load data warehouse applications
  • Design, development, testing and deployment of customer facing and internal analytics solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and dashboard and data visualization tools (Excel Services, PowerBI, PowerPivot, Tableau)
  • Review and optimize current processes to improve business results for internal and external customers
  • Performance tuning across the data warehouse processing platforms: ODS, DW, Cubes
  • Collaborate with BI Support Team and QA Team in the development, testing and support of BI Solutions
  • Development and implementation of standard BI development processes and templates
  • Ensure data quality, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness are built into every BI Solution

Competencies:

Position Description:
This position employs data knowledge and business intelligence techniques to draw critical insights from data about member health drivers, product/program concepts and value propositions, operational effectiveness and efficiencies, member specific health gaps and needs. The position is responsible for obtaining and validating data from various sources, understanding relevant differences between data sources, implementing effective methodologies and tools to create database structures and business intelligence products or solutions to support company’s initiatives around compliance to government regulations, population health management, operation efficiencies, healthcare cost transformation and value-based programs.

Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in strategic and executive meetings; partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand data needs, collect and translate business requirements into technical requirements

Develop and implement reporting and analytics strategies and solutions to deliver insightful fact and analysis to support high-level decision making and provide trend analysis and interpretations for risk adjustment, financial, utilization, population health, and quality management implications

Act as a key contributor in independently identifying data sources and extracting data from transactional systems and data warehouse, transforming and integrating data into analytical data sets, performing technical analysis and data mining through the manipulation of large data sets and application of complex business rules, and creating reports, dashboards, visualizations and other business intelligence solutions

Work with IT security and project management resources to ensure data deliverables meet regulatory, industry, and health plan requirements and standards; lead efforts in coordinating and performing reconciliation and resolution of data issues to ensure compliance and financial integrity

Make active contributions to the development and maintenance of databases and system enhancement objects and automation solutions necessary for business intelligence projects and data management functions; develop and implement processes, documentation and strategies to optimize data quality and process efficiency

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Mathematics, Economics, or other computer science or quantitative related field
  • 2+ years of technical development experience in business intelligence, data analysis, reporting, data engineering, data science, or informatics with hands-on working with large databases
  • 2+ years of experience with intermediate to advanced level SQL (and/or SAS/SAS EG) programming and report building, preferably in SSRS (or other reporting tools, e.g. Power BI, Crystal Reports, Tableau etc.

  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Access. Ability to create macros, pivot tables, charts, graphs and use VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, IF, AND, OR, etc. to work across worksheets and workbooks to consolidate data
  • Must pass the technical exam given at the interview that commeasures with the above-mentioned experience and skill level requirement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate with internal stakeholders and external clients required; demonstrated ability to communicate technical recommendations to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, organization and analytical skills; commitment to details with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to assimilate into a dynamic team and learn business processes quickly as needed
  • Advanced task, time and prioritization management skills required plus health care experience required
