Job Purpose (Job Summary)
:
Invesco Private Capital’s (IPC) Client Strategy Group is designed to handle the business relating activities of the broader IPC platform. The principal drivers of the business engagements are represented by the Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) structure. This structure is very much aligned with Invesco’s goal of having an investment-oriented culture that is focused on our clients throughout various distribution channels. The objective of the Client Strategy group is to represent our portfolio management teams in business related matters, thereby allowing the PMs to focus more of their efforts towards managing our client’s assets. The position of Associate Client Portfolio Manager (ACPM) will be a critical contributor within the CPM structure. The role is to assist the senior CPMs in various key areas of the business: portfolio reporting; on-site meetings; client on-boarding activities; client maintenance; sales/marketing efforts through the consultant/gatekeeper channel; strategy material updates; peer analysis; business oversight and reviews. The ACPM is expected to work with the Sales and Service team, operations, compliance, and legal. In this role, the ACPM will assist the CPMs is their responsibility in coordinating and delivery of investment servicing required for asset development and retention for clients across all Invesco distribution channels worldwide. This ACPM role is an essential component in enhancing and leveraging the team’s resources to foster stronger client and business development engagements. The role is a key contributor to the Business Solutions Group, to IPC, and to Invesco’s success.


Key Responsibilities / Duties
:
  • Credibility – The ACPM must build a degree of credibility within the group, Private Markets, the firm and its various diverse client base.
  • This is accomplished by assisting the CPMs in representing the investment teams to our sales professionals and clients throughout all Invesco distribution channels worldwide. A will to engage and to win are essential.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining marketing presentations to Invesco’s retail and institutional clients worldwide.
  • Assist in developing and preparing conference call materials and client updates. Adhoc requests by the client are also addressed by the ACPM in a timely manner with the oversight of the CPMs.
  • Communication – The ACPM must be a strong communicator.
  • Assist the CPMs in acting as a liaison between the sales force and the portfolio management teams. The goal is to ensure the team’s investment philosophy and processes are correctly and effectively represented to clients and potential opportunities.
  • Assist the CPMs in the compiling and gathering of information for presentation books with client reporting and off-site/on-site client meetings, thereby allowing the CPM to focus on the market contributing factors and strategy considerations.
  • Business Management Functions – The ACPM will be working in conjunction with the CPMs to address the various communication linkages with the PM’s, Product Managers, Sales & Marketing, Legal & Compliance and many other departments at Invesco.
  • The ACPM is assisting the CPMs with their responsibility for managing the various business-related functions of the investment teams.
  • Assist the CPMs with respect to the marketing plans for their respective investment disciplines.
  • Assist the CPMs to ensure relevant investment insights of the portfolio management team are delivered internally and externally in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work closely with one or more Fixed Income Product Managers and, together, work to maintain the message of the investment teams which includes presentation materials, market data research and competitive analysis.
  • The ACPM, alongside the CPMs and product managers are all responsible for assuring data integrity.
  • Assist the CPMs in their critical editorial role in preparing RFPs and RFIs prior to release.
  • Assist in assessing peer groups and competitive forces in the business segment.
  • Assist in maintaining P/L considerations and tracking according to business plans for the respective IFI group.

Qualifications

Work Experience / Knowledge:
  • At least 2 to 4 years of experience in the financial services industry required;
  • Prior experience within fixed income is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with clients is a plus.
  • Knowledge across diverse distribution channels in which Invesco strategies/products are sold. Institutional, retail, and consultant channel experience is preferred.
  • A will to engage and a winning enthusiasm are essential.
  • Strong work ethic & attention to detail are essential.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently with limited day-to-day direction. Must also be flexible and have the ability to work with a great variety of personalities and levels of expertise.

Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
  • This position requires impeccable presentation skills along with a high degree of professionalism to work in a high profile, yet very confidential environment.
  • Strong written communication skills and an ability to create pro-active messaging around investment strategies, fund performance and, market trends is also critical.
  • Proven communication and organizational skills and ability to catalyze all constituencies attached to the business.
  • Must possess strong analytical skill.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with all departments and organizational levels.
  • Self-directed; must be comfortable with working independently to achieve them, seeking manager’s input as needed.
  • Must exhibit appropriate software knowledge in windows-based applications. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, Power Point, and remote computer equipment is critical.
  • Good judgment.

Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is required, and a graduate degree/MBA is a plus.

License/Registration/Certification: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • FINRA Series 7 license will be a bonus. Strong preference for a CFA, MBA or working towards these technical designations or degree.

Working Conditions:
  • Position will be located in New York.
  • Travel – minimal, as the role is designed to be primarily internal, providing ongoing support to the CPMs.
