U.S. Immigration Specialist

Microsoft Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) is looking for an experienced U.S. Immigration Specialist to join our team. The U.S. Immigration Team provides strategic counsel to HR and Microsoft businesses worldwide, driving immigration compliance and supporting the immigration needs of visa-dependent employees and their families. As a U.S. Immigration Specialist you will be passionate about employee engagement, provide case management, solve complex problems in a dynamic environment, and work to attract and retain top talent in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee aspects of visa and immigration services, including the review and analysis of information and/or documentation drafted for submission with appropriate U.S. government agency;
  • Engage with visa-dependent employees, promoting positive business interactions and fostering long-term relationships with Microsoft’s employees, management and HR;
  • Contribute to the development of creative immigration solutions and alternatives, enabling Microsoft’s visa-dependent population to take bold actions towards achieving business objectives;
  • Advise on daily immigration operations, proactively assessing and planning for regulatory changes that may impact the program and/or visa-dependent employees; and
  • Consult with immigration attorneys on complex immigration issues.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelors Degree and 3+ years of US immigration experience
The ideal candidate should have:
  • Prior U.S. employment‐based immigration experience (IV and NIV filings), in the tech industry, strongly preferred.
  • Superlative writing and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, while also being a strong collaborator with a variety of personalities across a large number of diverse internal groups, teams, divisions, and cultures.
  • Ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast‐paced environment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
  • Ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Strong results orientation with a dedicated focus on clients.
