Technical Program Manager

Are you passionate about creating both the best buying AND selling experience on the internet? Would you enjoy being able to tell your friends your team shipped code that made buying on Amazon easier and safer in your first few weeks? As a Technical Program Manager on the Customer and Brand Trust team you will be actively working on systems and features that accomplish this for buyers and sellers on Amazon.com every day.
Who you are: You’re a senior technical leader who’s passionate about software development. You have great intuition, and you excel at turning product requirements into technical requirements and design.

Who you’ll work with: The Customer and Brand Trust team employs lean agile development practices to build systems that look after and seek to improve Amazon’s customer and seller experiences. We work in short iterations and ship code daily. We hate building stuff that doesn’t work out the way we’d hoped, so before we invest in large production systems we quickly validate our thinking with smaller, more testable releases and tests.
Why it’s important: Amazon is known as the world leader in e-commerce – if you buy from Amazon you just know it’ll be a perfect experience. A fact that not everyone is aware of is that nearly 50% of all sales on Amazon.com are fulfilled by third party sellers. It’s the Customer and Brand Trust team’s job to make sure that when you order from a third party, your buying experience is just as awesome as if you order from Amazon fulfillment.

As a Technical Program Manager on our team, you will be constantly thinking of new ways to ensure we work to deliver on this promise. When we build out systems for scale, they must handle a blistering number of actions and transactions per second. We take pride in owning our entire code stack as well as globally regionalized server clusters that run it. From high level requirements like figuring out how to best improve the way in which buyers and sellers communicate, all the way down to the nitty gritty of coming up with a faster way to read, write and query data on an ever growing scale in real time. We are a diverse team from a variety of backgrounds and interests who love dreaming up, validating, and shipping features that deliver big customer impact by making sure great buyers are only ever connected with great sellers.
Everyone on the team is a product owner, and it’s your job to ensure that we all deliver our customers value as a team every day. How can you continuously improve the buying experience customers shopping with our third party sellers see every day? What are your ideas to improve the selling experience on Amazon? How do you make them a reality for millions of seller and customers?
