We are seeking an experienced, driven, results-oriented Software Engineer to join a team with the goal of creating intuitive web applications for our Network Operator customers. These applications are an integral part of the future success of Akamai’s Network Operator Solutions, providing the interfaces for deployment, maintenance, monitoring, provisioning, and reporting of the DNS product. The team is using Agile Scrum processes, so expect collaboration, accountability, and an emphasis on the incremental delivery of working software.

Designing and develop usable, high-quality applications that exceed customer expectations.
Developing reusable components that reduce the amount of work over time.
Collaborating with other team members on end-to-end product features.
Interacting with extended team members to deliver product releases on schedule.
Breaking down large user stories into reasonable, targeted deliverables.

About the Team
Akamai’s Carrier Products Business Unit is a dynamic “start-in” group that defines, develops, and sells Akamai’s carrier products to fixed and mobile carriers. The group is responsible for Akamai’s Network Operator Solutions and incorporates the strength of Akamai’s globally-distributed computing service packaged into products and sold to network service providers (Telcos, ISPs, MSOs). The division collaborates closely with the other product and engineering groups within Akamai as well many external partners and customers.

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent or
Masters degree in Computer Science or it’s equivalent

Required Skills

2 years of Web Development experience using Java Enterprise Edition.
2 years of experience developing database-backed applications using Vertica or equivalent Enterprise class database.
2 years of experience with Web Services development on Spring
2 years of experience using the Model View Controller Architecture
2 years of experience Deploying and Supporting Applications on the Linux or UNIX operating system.
2 year of experience working with Internet protocols and concepts (IP, TCP, SSL / TLS, HTTP, DNS).

Desired Skills

Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, small-team environment.
Passion to understand, learn and evaluate new technologies.
Experience with Spring, Hibernate, Ajax, JUnit, Struts2, XML, JavaScript
Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Unix Shell Scripts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expertise in Secure Software Design and Architecture
Familiarity with software security weakness, vulnerability and secure code review
