Software Developer I

It is the primary task of the development team to build tools for the organization that helps them work faster, more effectively and more intelligently all in support of making a better experience for our customers.

What will you be doing? We are a relatively small company so the notion of ‘full stack’ is truly applicable here. We write and model the DBs, create the services exposing that data using ReST and consume that data in client side applications. However, our notion of ‘stack’ goes beyond this. We are also in charge of our CI/CD integration and implementation. How we do our work? We are an agile organization and operate via Scrum. Story pointing, sub-tasking, sprints, velocity and backlog are every day terms on this team. We work in a collaborative fashion, but you will be responsible and accountable for the work you define and commit to.

We build tools and automation systems to create collaborative online and offline tools so that our customers can benefit from personalized assistance from our project coordinators and interior designers. We may look like we’re a kitchen cabinet company, but underneath it all we’re really a services company providing a personal connection to highly skilled, formally educated designers and project coordinators.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role in designing, coding, testing, and documenting custom and off-the-shelf software solutions for internal/external business use
Participate and contribute to team meetings, design reviews, test-readiness reviews, and other associated meetings.
Addresses support issues with a sense of urgency
Promotes team cooperation and supports team decisions even if different from own.
Potential maintenance work on legacy systems as prioritized by our business.
Support for various solutions
Desire to learn. We’re not looking for complacent people that don’t like change or don’t want to change.
An ability to challenge the ‘norm’ articulately and intelligently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1 to 3 years or experience designing, coding and testing
Ability to self-manage and work independently as well as part of a team.
Attention to detail and ability to translate business needs into solutions. Ability to derive the best solution when reviewing business needs (many times very different than what the business may have asked for).
Ability to manage commitments and communication of any discrepancies roadblocks that may distract from the meeting those commitments.
Ability to learn new software techniques, concepts, and technologies
Good communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to respond directly to questions from business clients.
Passion for both technology and customer service

Must have some experience in the following areas

Conceptual understanding of ReST services
OO Design and Development concepts (SOLID, OOP, OOD, Design patterns)
Experience with Continuous Integration, branching strategies and DVCS
Experience with RDBMS solutions (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) – Data structures and stored procedures
Experience with client side javascript frameworks (Angular, AngularJS, Vue, React etc)
Experience with HTML and CSS/SASS/LESS
