Job Summary: Responsible for the development and maintenance of workflows/algorithms for analysis of genomics and next-generation sequencing data. Develops standalone and online webservers for integrated and systems biology analysis of multi-dimensional omics data.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains analysis pipelines for next generation sequencing and proteomics data.
  • Manages genomics, proteomics and sequencing data analysis, visualization, interpretation and presentation.
  • Develops analytical workflows for identifying predictive biomarkers from genome level data using novel feature selection and classifier training algorithms.
  • Utilizes programming skills and maintains expertise in C/C++, Java, Perl, Python, SAS, MATLAB and R.
  • Writes client/server web map applications with relational database using HTML, Javascript and MySQL.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree required in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or Engineering with a minor in Bioinformatics.
  • 1 year of continuous programming in R., MATLAB, C, C++, and/or C# with a working knowledge of sequencing data processing tools.
  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Bioinformatics with expert knowledge of tools for next-generation data processing and workflow development using C, C++ and Java.

  • Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Physical Nature of the Job:
    Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
