Functions/Duties of Position

The ATTEND Lab at OHSU (PI: Sarah Karalunas) is seeking a full-time Research Assistant 1. The Research Assistant 1 will help with management and analysis of EEG, ERP, and neuropsychological test data, as well as some data collection and administrative responsibilities. A brief training period at 0.5 – 0.75 FTE is expected before full-time hours start. The specifics of the training period and fulltime work schedule are negotiable. The Research Assistant 1 responsibilities will include:

  • Data management and analyses (including creating and maintaining scripts required for data processing)
  • Study coordination, conducting EEG visits, and interacting with other volunteer staff members
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree /No Experience, OR Associate’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience, OR No degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written (e.g. email) and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
  • Excellent personal organization, attention to detail and strong work ethic skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter, teamwork-oriented and demonstrate a positive attitude
  • Flexible work schedule may need to work evening hours on occasion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS is Psychology or related field
  • Computer programming or scripting experience (VBA, MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience in EEG/ERP data collection or analysis
  • Experience administering psychological testing instruments to children and adults
  • Strong interest and drive for learning to work with spreadsheet software particularly Excel and statistical software (e.g. SPSS and SYSTAT)
  • Comfort in learning new software
  • Knowledge of basic statistical procedures and how a data base must be organized to enable those procedures
  • Experience with stimulus presentation software (e.g., PsychoPy, Eprime)
  • Familiarity with IRB and study administration
