Project Manager

The Project Manager (PjM) is responsible for leading large strategic software development projects and programs while mentoring other team members sharing knowledge and experience. The PjM will manage delivery execution, drive predictable customer experiences with tangible outcomes and high quality. They will manage programs & projects end-to-end (strategy to execution) using a project/program management framework, driving cross-domain, cross-team and third-party partnerships. The PjM must apply strong program and project management standards and best practices to ensure successful execution of projects on scope, on schedule and on budget, being always on top of all commercial and business aspects of your portfolio.


Responsibilities

PjM’s play a key role in employing and developing partners as part of the overall Microsoft services delivery model. PjM’s maintain product group relationships and may act as subject matter experts assisting service line management in definition and development of service and/or solution offerings. They are also expected to participate in the mentoring of consultants and partner staff. PjM’s are able to deliver articulate and effective strategic presentations to audiences of all sizes. The PjM must have proven experience managing all aspects of technology projects from conception to production operations and support: scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, customer expectations and satisfaction, team management (cross functional, cross organizational), and partner management. This includes managing multi-phase/multi-dimensional/multi-resource projects to conclusion while maintaining high customer satisfaction in a highly matrixed organization. The role requires a technically strong project manager who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both crisis management and expectation management.

This role will focus on a single, large-scale customer located in New York City

Qualifications

Candidates must have excellent organization, communication, Project Management, negotiation and problem solving skills, and a demonstrated capability in managing large, complex implementations. The role requires both deep project management experience in a consulting organization, and broad technology knowledge with the ability to facilitate the architecting of solutions by mapping common customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions. Demonstrated ability to engage in executive level business and technology discussions related to agility, business value, and end to end technology strategy is also a must. PjM’s are key enablers for other consultants and partner staff. They manage the complete lifecycle of large and complex projects. PjM’s have a passion for the customer which is demonstrated through professionalism and striving for excellence in all aspects of the customer experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

BA or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience(MBA desired)
10+ years of demonstrated corporate experience.
PMP certification with real-world consulting experience required
Application Development experience, including offshore development
Agile/SCRUM certification and experience
Demonstrated capability in managing large, complex implementations
Ability to identify risks before they occur and to develop mitigation and avoidance strategies ·
Excellent oral and written communication, including strong executive presence at the CXO level
Ten years experience as primary delivery lead on transformational IT engagements.
Exceptional team (10+) building and mentoring skills
Broad understanding and experience with the Microsoft platform or equivalent
Demonstrated self-learner
Passion for leading-edge tools and technologies
