Mainframe Application Architect

Key responsibilities

• Interact with product and business stakeholders in requirements definition, application functionality and design questions; recommend solutions or work arounds
• Perform design and documentation of application enhancements; develop solution following SDLC
• Available to be on-call on 24X7 rotational basis
• Research application functionality and technology independently
• Support and monitor managed service provider to follow best practices; perform code reviews and approve solution
• Ownership of payments applications; support and guide managed service provider to meet predefined SLAs and escalate concerns

Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
• 7+ Years of software development experience on IBM Mainframe; including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 and VSAM
• Strong communication skills both oral and written
• Strong software architecture design skills
• Perform root cause analysis for incidents, system and performance concerns
• Strong understanding of Job Scheduling and interdependency, particularly CA-7
• Analyze mainframe system resource usage (storage and performance); recommend and implement optimizations accordingly
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to refactor and simplify legacy code, recommend tuning to reduce resource consumption

• Have experience connecting applications to mainframe; SOAP / web services
• Experience with object-oriented programming with .net or Java
• Experience with mainframe modernization techniques and projects
• Have experience with financial services and payments
