Description:
The Inventory Planner is an exempt salaried position responsible for creating and managing effective inventory plans for the organization with emphasis on maximizing fulfillment rates, minimizing costs, and ensuring efficient use of the company’s resources.

The position will work out of The Honest Kitchen’s San Diego, CA, headquarters office and reports to the Vice President of Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create, maintain, and enhance forecasting models used for managing inventory levels and production or procurement plans for a growing number of product lines and SKUs;
  • Collect information from key internal stakeholders to understand future inventory needs to support product launches, initial stock offerings, promotional efforts, etc., for incorporation into forecast models;
  • Coordinate with the Directors of Sourcing and Production, amongst other stakeholders, to implement effective inventory procurement and production plans;
  • Track and record production orders and appropriate inventory transactions in various systems, including company’s ERP system (currently SAP B1);
  • Periodically reconcile partner inventory reports with Company records to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy;
  • Maintain and update reporting that provides relevant measures to key internal stakeholders (i.e, component and finished good inventory levels, inventory aging, etc.)
  • Assist with the creation and management of bills of materials and ensure accurate recognition of inventory cost of goods;
  • Manage product specifications (such as UPCs, units of measure, dimensions, etc.) for new and existing product lines that are used in system set-up and shared with supply chain partners;
  • Assist with ongoing analysis of product performance and recommend optimization opportunities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience in inventory planning/management, or related field.
  • Aptitude for analytical analysis with experience working in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Outstanding organization, communication, and follow up skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and goes the extra mile to see things through.
  • Proficient with common computer programs, including Microsoft Office and experience working in an ERP system (i.e., SAP).
  • Ability to multitask and switch focus quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a pet friendly office environment
