Finance Intern

Edelman NY is looking for a post-graduate intern to assist members of our NY Brand teams with various financial analyses and reporting projects. Assisting with analyzing and organizing a wide variety of planning and budgeting documents is a major focal point of this role. Ad hoc reporting and analytical tasks are also to be expected.

The intern must be able to work effectively with a variety of account service staff within a specific set of accounts. S/he must have good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines. S/he must have solid knowledge of MS Office Suite and superior verbal and written communication skills.

The intern is responsible for assisting with implementing and monitoring projects within a specific set of accounts under the direction of the supervisor. S/he works closely with and supports the needs of the account teams.

• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• To the extent possible, familiarity with Excel Pivot Tables, Graphing/Charts, etc.
• Comfortable working with large data sets
• Must be able to multi-task
• Strong time management skills with attention to detail

Basic Qualifications:

Well organized with excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills. Strong time management skills with attention to detail, following through on multiple projects in a fast paced environment. Strong Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in financial modeling and analysis. Assist with the billing process and expense reconciliations. Maintain the integrity of the client structure within the financial system, open/close job codes and create purchase orders. Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to determine monthly variance drivers. Assist billing and collections departments with reconciliations and A/R collections. Monitor, track and maintain resource movement within a given practice/department. Provide any necessary ad hoc support to finance managers and business unit executives as needed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This is a full time (40hr/week) internship position, paid plus overtime. There is the possibility that this position will become a permanent financial analyst role after the 3-month program. Our interns are post-graduates and work a full-time schedule (Mon-Fri, 9am-5:30pm). The internship is generally a 3-month program, but can be extended to a maximum of 6 months. Edelman does not provide any form of housing or transportation reimbursement.
