Director of Operations

  • Leadership and oversight for the overall housing assignment process including room assignments, license agreements, room transfers, exception processes, license agreement releases; reviews and interprets policies, housing renewal processes, and maintains accurate records and system/room configurations for all four campus locations
  • Provides direction, administration and support while leveraging the key technology platforms of “StarRez” for occupancy management and strategic data reporting and “PeopleSoft” for billing & fee assessments, financial & configuration audits, while also supervising University Housing web services & interfaces.
  • Analyzes occupancy trends, provides reports and recommends occupancy strategies and solutions.• Oversees the planning, development and coordination of all Housing operational processes for New Student Orientation programs in collaboration with University partners
  • Ensures delivery of excellent customer service, providing strategic leadership for the department’s call center and walk up service transactions, as well as outgoing live and email communication exchanges
  • Represents the department and serves on various department, divisional, and university community boards and participates in department, division, and university events/activities/etc.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and evaluation of goals and objectives related to the overall on-campus student living experience.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with key campus partners including Residential Colleges, Enrollment Services, International Students and Scholars Center, and other areas within University Housing and Educational Outreach and Student Services.
  • Manage and support Lenel card access and video surveillance system
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration , Business Administration, or closely related field, with at least ten (10) years previous Residential Life/Student Affairs experience, five (5) of which include supervision
  • Experience managing university housing operations, residential services and/or occupancy management in a Residential College or Living and Learning Community model
  • Experience with the StarRez student information system and/or other database/warehouse systems
  • Experience in strategic planning with a demonstrated ability to achieve desired outcomes, objectives and goals
  • Experience in compiling and evaluating data, preparing reports, and analyzing programs for quality assurance and efficiency
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and recruitment of potential customers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and standards of management and conflict resolution
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal operations, including the ability to analyze and prepare budgeting and forecasting reports
