As a Digital Technical Analyst, you will help update, manage, and provide support for key enterprise Business Information databases and drive Business processes related to Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales, Shipments, Inventory and Orders (SSIO) data. The job includes working closely with Process Partners to define business processes and requirements as well as designing developing and implementing processes, or making process improvements to existing core business applications. It may also include analyzing major programs and their dependencies to determine impact and end to end process flow.

Travel will be minimal.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • 5+ years of recent experience using COBOL language to meet business requirements (within last 7 years)
  • 5+ years of experience with database modeling, development and testing
  • 5+ years of experience using the DB2 database platform
  • 5+ years of experience using the JCL (Job Control Language)
  • 5+ years of experience with QUICKJOB
  • Ability to work both independently and with a cooperative team on complex projects that may span multiple technology components or applications.
Top Candidates will have:

  • Previous experience with Supply Chain application development processes with a focus on Forecasting within a major manufacturing company (ideally within Caterpillar).
  • Previous experience with Order Lifecycle (Sales, Shipment and Order data management) within a large company (ideally within Caterpillar).
  • Knowledge of Mainframe technology and tools such as: XPEDITER, SPUFI, QMF, SORT, ENDEVOR, Abend-AID, File-AID
  • Knowledge of IMS database platform.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and technical skills
  • Ability to quickly learn from existing source code and develop improvements and added features.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated coding and delivery of application solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement solutions independently
  • Demonstrated ability to learn & apply new technologies independently
