Data Engineer, Onsite Lead – Contractor

This position will be an onsite lead position with offshore co-ordination. The candidate will be expected to provide design and production-ready ETL code optimized for performance and resources based on business requirements. This position requires deep technical skills in Ab Initio, excellent understanding of computer science concepts such as data structures and MPP, experience with technically leading teams of onsite and offshore engineers, good multi-tasking, communication and collaboration skills.

Job Requirements:

• Create complex technical solutions and design utilizing Ab Initio and other technologies
• Leads off shore resources in day to day development
• Enforces ETL development standards and best practices
• Removes blockers for the off-shore development team
• Maintain staggered work hours that allow for interaction with both off-shore and on-shore resources
• Constantly coordinates with Technical Program Manager on requirements and participate in solution design for requirements
• Lead technical discussions impacting solutions and data integration technology
• Full life cycle experience in data integration/data warehousing
• Expert understanding of the ETL/ELT and architectural principles of data integration and data warehousing as applied to business intelligence
• Ability to work within an Agile project structure

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of overall IT experience
• 6+ years in a direct role as a designer for ETL and/or EDW systems
• 4+ years data warehousing and methodology experience
• 4+ years advanced Ab Initio solution design and development
• 3+ years leading teams to develop ELT / ETL solutions to business problems
• Must have technical expertise with Oracle, Teradata, UNIX and LINUX in a large data environment
• Broad and deep data warehousing and data integration exposure
• Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management in a clear and professional manner; verbally and written
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills: SQL, problem solving, performance tuning, test case analysis
• Ability to multitask and comfortable working in a large organization across multiple teams
• Demonstrated competency in all phases of software development
• Expert understanding of MPP and or large SMP environments
• Solid understanding of data modeling and design considerations for analytical systems
• Solid understanding of database administration, tuning, and space management
