Contract Specialist

As a Contract Specialist at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for providing excellent services and support to the Legal Department (“Department”) and other team members. This will require producing high-quality work product and demonstrating Micron’s core behaviors and the skills associated with the Contract Specialist role. In this role, you will be required to carry out assigned responsibilities with exceptional professionalism, reliability, responsiveness, confidentiality, judgment, and attention to detail.


Responsibilities and Tasks

General Support

  • Prepare and process agreements, applications, and other documents in accordance with the appropriate legal model and any applicable requirements
  • Oversee and assist in processes for the opening and closing of assigned agreements and matters in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Update and maintain information in Department and company databases, websites, and other technologies in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Coordinate review and approval of agreements and other legal documents in accordance with Department and company policies
  • Prepare for and attend meetings with supervising attorneys and/or Department clients to discuss assignments, coordinate strategies, and resolve issues
  • Participate on special project teams as needed, including assisting with integration projects
  • Assist with the preparation of training materials, templates, and playbooks
  • Prioritize, track, and forecast legal workload in coordination with attorneys and Department clients
  • Track regulatory, transaction, or other deadlines related to assigned areas of responsibility and coordinate the submission/delivery of required documents to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Maintain files for review or audit as required for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Conduct legal, public, and/or other research as required
  • Act as a liaison between departments and/or outside counsel on assigned matters or projects
  • Provide cross-functional peer support

General Advisory Support

  • Explain legal principles, processes, procedures, practices, and policies to Micron’s team members worldwide
  • Respond to requests and compliance issues as may arise within assigned areas of responsibility
  • Advise regarding policy guidance and interpretation for functional areas worldwide

Transactional (Contract) Support

  • Review, draft, negotiate, and finalize agreements and related documents, including nondisclosure agreements, service agreements and SOW’s, software license agreements, consignment agreements, and purchase agreements
  • Coordinate, track, and manage compliance with assigned contract management processes and procedures
  • Coordinate, track, and manage compliance with the company Contract Review Policy and Decision Authority Policy
  • Advise and assist Micron’s worldwide team members regarding general procurement, licensing, and sales transactions and agreements
  • Assist to marshal appropriate stakeholders within the company to address issues arising from transactions and to escalate decisions and address legal risks and exposure
  • Manage high-volume and varied requests for legal agreements and other legal services related to contractual relationships
  • Support Micron Finance as needed in connection with internal control audits


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience


Experience

  • In-house or law firm employment as a paralegal, contract specialist, or comparable position and experience working with publicly-traded companies with global operations desired


Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate and develop each skill associated with the Contract Specialist role
  • Exceptional professionalism, reliability, responsiveness, confidentiality, judgment, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work expeditiously and in a manner that helps minimize risk and exposure while achieving overall customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work with larger team in seeking efficiencies for legal support
  • Ability to balance multiple projects, often with tight or competing deadlines, in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to liaise with appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner and communicate clearly and professionally (both verbally and in writing)
  • Ability to operate independently with limited attorney supervision while adhering to Department policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Experience with Legal Department technologies and research tools
