Assistant Project Accountant

JOB SUMMARY:
This position assists the Project Accountant in directing and coordinating the financial activities of various projects including account reconciliations, accounts payable processing, reporting, budgeting and internal control compliance tasks. Verifies accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records. Compiles data, and prepares a variety of reports. Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers. Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies. Investigates questionable data.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Works closely with accounting professionals and the management team on various day-to-day projects, reports and activities within the department. Assist in fulfilling special requests and research financial accounting issues as required. Assists in the preparation of financial results and analysis for the company?s Executive Management Committee and Board of Directors. Assists in the preparation of information provided to major rating agencies (e.g. S&P, Moody’s). Prepares journal entries under GAAP accounting methods. Maintains account level general ledger. Performs account, general ledger and sub-ledger systems reconciliations. Performs analysis of trend and exceptions for accounts and investments. Provides data in response to auditor requests. Assists in providing information and analysis supporting business unit requests. Assists in special projects as needed. Assist with the monthly invoicing of clients, preparation of backup and supporting documentation for invoicing, and filing of ARs and APs will also assist with maintaining AR Tracker, electronic filing of project cost sheets, proposal/fee reviews and assist with accounts payable coding and tracking.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 ? 3 years of relevant experience. Strong work ethic. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Customer service experience.

1-2 years accounting experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.

Professional oral and written communication skills, able to communicate processes. Basic math skills, research skills, understanding of account codes. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, able to provide excellent customer service

Excellent teamwork ability. High standards of quality and integrity. Pre Employment Skills testing as well as background and drug testing required.
