Accounting Assistant

Job Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Business Services & Finance, this position provides support to the Business Office. This position is responsible for greeting and assisting students/parents/visitors to the Business Office in such a manner so as to assure smooth flow of traffic and assist those visiting our area in the most efficient and expedient manner possible.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Send statements for past due student accounts/students no longer enrolled
  • Send letters for past due student accounts who haven’t made payment within last six months
  • Maintain spreadsheet of all student accounts placed with collection agency
  • Process ACH payments received from Williams & Fudge/GRC/Key 2 Recovery on monthly basis
  • Process Campus Partners reports and monthly entries
  • Process Tuition/Room deposit for incoming students, maintain spreadsheet and reports
  • Post parking fines to student accounts and send notification of fines to students
  • Receive and process Accounts Receivable payments
  • Prepare daily deposits for Business Office and Alumni offices
  • Assist Director of Business Service & Finance with college owned rental property
  • Bill rental property residents for monthly utilities
  • Analyze liability accounts on monthly basis
  • Assist Athletic Department with student athletic insurance claims
  • All other duties as assigned in support of the effective and efficient operation of the Business Office

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of clerical, secretarial and accounting experience or the equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education as approved by Human Resources. Experience with insurance claims and analysis is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills with proficient knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel. SCT Banner knowledge desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students and all key members of the college and local community.
