Position Information

This position is in the Management Personnel Plan (Administrator I) and earns management benefits including medical, dental, vision, $100,000 life insurance plan, and the CalPERS pension plan. For more information on benefits included for this position, please see the benefits summary.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.

The Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the University’s accounts payable function. In addition to managing the process over vendor payments, the Manager of Accounts Payable also has primary oversight over the University’s travel and procurement credit card (PCC) programs. Included in these objectives is the requirement to independently prioritize work within the department and establish goals to meet its mission.

The Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for ensuring that all distributions are made in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies as set forth by the California State Controller’s Office, the California State University System’s Chancellor’s Office, and the University. The incumbent is expected to own all of the relevant University policies and procedures related to its disbursements and compliance with such policies and procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting annual salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $75,000. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,502 – $8,818 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Accounting which may include education and/or experience.

Five plus years of accounts payable or related work experience.
Experience providing lead direction or supervision of others.

Licensure

Accounts Payable Manager (APM) certification upon hire or completion within 6 month of employment.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations impacting the accounts payable function. This knowledge should include, but not be limited to, California sales and use tax laws, federal reimbursement limitations for travel, and 1099 reporting requirements.
Experience working in the accounting or auditing functions.
Experience working with the Oracle eBusiness Suite financials.
Experience working in a large higher education and/or public sector organization.
